* VENTING TIME! *

who knew Andy would take CHARGE of registering...

GEEZ....I have to whine and act like i'm mad in order for Andy to let me pick the DISHES that I'LL be putting the food on...or the GLASSES that WE'LL be drinking in....

our first attempt to register was at Crate and Barrel...
~ in the beginning he was good about just scanning the things we needed....
then slowly....he disappears in a different section, while i need something scanned in another section...
and he asks if I REALLY need it...

of course i need it!! thats why i'm putting it on the registry.!

our plan was to just register at three places....but the three turned into four...because Andy insisted in getting the cups/glasses at MACY'S...and then questions me why i need a kitchen-aid mixer, mixing bowl,food processor from MACY'S as well.... =P

Andy will rarely let me touch the SCANNER thing...
I may have scanned an item 3 times throughout the whole registry...

its my WEDDING TOO!

* crate & barrel *

* he's not too happy that i want this bowl *

* this is how anal he is...inspecting a SPOON *

* looking like an idot, cuz i don't know how to use this gadget since Andy won't let me touch it *

*determined to scan as many as i can before Andy took it away *

* purchasing a few things *

* he likes taking pictures more than me *

* buying gifts for our flowergirl *

* finally found the waterglass we wanted *

* long...fun...day!!  *

* HAN BOK *

HANBOK - traditional korean clothing has its roots extending back at least as far as the three kingdoms period (57 B.C.-668 A.D) The hanbok represents one of the most visable aspects of korean culture.

PAEBAEK
- Paebaek is a Korean ritual where the grooms family accepts the bride.
  The newlyweds make a ceremonial bow to the groom's  parents, slowly kneeling and bending forward until their foreheads nears the floor.  Then the bride and groom serve rice wine to the parents.  The parents, in turn offer words of wisdom and advice to the couple.  The parents throw dates and chestnuts at the newlyweds, who tries to catch as many as they can with a long white fabric that is an extension of the bride's hanbok. the dates and chestnuts represent grandchildren. To cap off the ritual, the groom gives the bridea piggy-back ride to show his strength.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so from all this, I  didn't mind borrowing a hanbok from a friend/family....
my ringboy's mom offered to lend andy and i their's from many years ago.

we wear the paebaek on top of our hanbok, so its not like anyone was going to see the actual hanbok.
since we borrow the paebaek, we really didn't need to go all out to buy a hanbok that we are gonna wear ONCE ..
YES!...only ONCE...

but once again...the mom's INSIST on buying it as part of the wedding gifts..................
can i win my mom???? NEVER....
honestly the mom's were soooo much more excited to pick their own hanboks...which took like 45 mins...
and when it came to my turn........i picked it out in like 5 mins.....
but of course my choice got OVERRIDED by the mom's.......i don't know what the point of bringing me out was...

I brought up some "modern" hanbok i found .... showed them to my mom............
and she literally just IGNORED my choices...and just looked at me as if i'm C R A Z Y...and out of my MIND......

with the whole tradition and all...i just let the mom's have it...CRYSTAL vs MOM.........

MOTHER WINS!

here are some traditional hanboks.........

* paebaek outfit *                              * korean hanbok *

* modernized hanboks...used the same materials as the traditional hanboks*

* i love this hanbok dress *                                  * this one too!! *

* Sandra Oh, even wore a hanbok style dress *                            * this dress is gorgeous! *

...mother or mother...how come you can't understand me...
i know if i wore anything like this during the paebaek...
all the ADULTS would think i completely forgot to wear the top part........

maybe for my future daughter/sons wedding ...i'll wear a hanbok like this...hehehe....

* i wish chloe was a part of our wedding *........
   only if i trained her not to bark at strangers....

andy and i were looking for a MALE ( i know i know...sexist) photographer...
we had our day planned out...with where to take pictures...
we told him our idea....he was really excited ...very comfortable with us....

he tried to really work with our budget....on his own time, he actually researched where we were having our wedding/reception....to us........that was a BIG plus...

Gene's a photographer from Russia. Studied law economics for 3 years and now what?!?...
So far, Gene has been very catering to our needs.

Can't wait to work with him....
